'Escape to nature’s edge'

Mid Fearn Cottages is surrounded by water, on its own promontory, with natural woodland walks down to the sea. ‘The Beach’ is a spit of sand where geese ‘ soak up the sun’! In spring, the woods are a carpet of bluebells, and recently planted wild daffodils. Dog walkers, bird watchers and artists alike revel in this natural paradise.

The owners of Mid Fearn Cottages, Julia and Peter, are in the process of creating a natural sanctuary for migrating birds and have added a pond in their woodland landscaping. They have also installed a new Wood Pellet Boiler System which runs off locally sourced wood pellets. Not only is this a completely green and sustainable energy source, it is also reliable and incredibly effective, so that all the cottages - Rowan, Struan and Herbie's - are toasty warm throughout the year.

Rowan and Struan Cottages are attached to the main house around a courtyard. The owners live in the main house. Herbie’s, the studio hideaway, is set on its own, slightly away from the main house. Each cottage has been individually refurbished since the new owners moved to Mid Fearn in 2010. Each has its own character, with stunning views either up the Kyle of Sutherland northwards toward Lairg, of out to sea.
