'Escape
to nature’s edge'
'Mid
Fearn Cottages, set in a unique, natural reserve, is a magical place
to stay’ ... so say our guests.
Surrounded by sea and natural woodland, it is a haven of peace and tranquility,
the silence broken by the call of whooper swans, geese and a multitude
of waders such as curlews and oystercatchers.
The property
consists of two cottages : Rowan and Herbie’s. Both cottages can
be let individually or togther if a larger booking is required.
Rowan
Cottage is attached to the main house around a courtyard. The owners
of Mid Fearn Cottages, Julia and Peter, live in the main house. Herbie’s,
the studio hideaway, is set on its own, slightly away from the main
house. Each cottage has been individually refurbished since the new
owners moved to Mid Fearn in 2010 and a new Wood
Pellet Heating System installed. Each has its own character,
with stunning views either up the Kyle of Sutherland northwards towards
Lairg, or down the Kyle towards the sea.
Mid Fearn
Cottages is surrounded by water, on its own promontory, with natural
woodland walk down to the shore.
In spring,
the woods are a carpet of bluebells, and recently planted wild daffodils.
Dog walkers, bird watchers and artists alike revel in this natural paradise.
A path through the woods winds down through wild daffodils, bluebells,
fritillaries and aconites to the sea beyond. Alders form the major part
of the wood.
The owners
are in the process of creating a natural sanctuary for migrating birds.
They have just added a pond in their woodland landscaping.
